Check basic physics arithmetic

Physics Helpers provides four small, transparent calculations for classroom practice: speed, force, density, and work. Choose a mode and supply the values that belong to that formula. Speed divides distance by time. Force uses mass multiplied by acceleration. Density divides mass by volume. Work multiplies force by displacement. The output shows the result and a short note describing the formula. Use consistent units before entering numbers. If distance is in metres and time is in seconds, the speed label is units per second; if mass and acceleration use a coherent system, the force label is newtons. The helper does not convert miles to kilometres, grams to kilograms, or any other unit pair. It also does not infer whether a value is physically plausible. Write your units beside the inputs and check them against the assignment. The processor protects two divisions: time is limited to a small positive value and mass and volume have positive minimums. These safeguards keep arithmetic finite when a blank or zero is supplied; they are not a physical claim that a zero-time experiment behaves normally. The remaining values may be zero or negative where the formula permits arithmetic, but you should interpret signs and direction according to the problem statement. A good workflow is to identify the known quantities, choose the matching mode, enter values with units, run the helper, and then write the equation and substitution in your own solution. Compare rounding with your teacher’s required precision. The tool is useful for checking arithmetic, not for replacing diagrams, assumptions, significant figures, vector reasoning, uncertainty analysis, or a full derivation. Keep the original problem beside the result so an apparently neat number does not hide a mismatched formula.

Use coherent units and write the equation yourself. The helper checks arithmetic but does not model a complete experiment.

What the helper calculates

The four modes apply speed = distance/time, force = mass×acceleration, density = mass/volume, and work = force×displacement.

Safeguards prevent division by zero; they do not perform unit conversion or physical validation.

Read the physics result

Confirm the selected mode, formula, values, and unit assumptions before accepting the number.

Use the output as an arithmetic check and include a full derivation in submitted work.

Common mistakes

Do not mix units without converting them first.

Do not use density mode when the problem asks for a different ratio.

Physics helper limits

The tool does not convert units, handle vectors, estimate uncertainty, or validate a physical scenario.

It cannot replace diagrams, assumptions, significant figures, or teacher guidance.

Run a calculation

  1. Choose speed, force, density, or work.
  2. Enter only the quantities relevant to the selected formula.
  3. Keep units consistent and note them beside each value.
  4. Run the helper and compare the rounded result with your written substitution.

Formula rules

Speed

distance ÷ time

Time is protected from zero before division.

Force

mass × acceleration

The result is labelled in newtons without claiming conversion.

Density

mass ÷ volume

Volume receives a positive minimum before division.

The helper is local arithmetic support, not a complete physics model.

Frequently asked questions

What does speed mode calculate?

Speed is distance divided by time.

What formula does force mode use?

Force uses F = ma.

How is density calculated?

Density uses mass divided by volume.

What is work mode?

Work uses force multiplied by displacement.

Why is time never zero?

Time is clamped to a small positive value to avoid division by zero.

Why is volume never zero?

Volume is clamped to a small positive value to avoid division by zero.

Does the tool convert units?

No. The helper labels arithmetic units but does not claim conversion.

Can it replace a physics derivation?

No. Use it as a check and show assumptions in a complete derivation.
